Gold Coast Triathlete Too Long Between News Briefs
Noel from Gold Coast Triathlete
Hi One and All,
Once again its been too long between news briefs!
The season is just about upon us again and athletes are in full training.
The highlight of the past couple of months for us was the Olympic Games and especially the triathlon with Emma coming home with the GOLD and Courtney and Brad having in their words "GREAT RACES" although disappointed with themselves but as I told them no one can take away from them that they are "OLYMPIANS"and always will be.
As for poor Emm, she has been non stop since getting home and is hoping to slow down a fraction from Press work to concentrate on her next couple of races which may include a trip to the US for the Dallas race and then the race to end her season NOOSA.
I think Courto has been thinking the same races will be for him also.
Great news on our front is that Shaun our mechanic has returned home from a successful and eye opening race season in the US racing for the LAND ROVER- ORBEA cycle team. He had some mixed results but managed to enjoy his time away and has given him a perspective on professional cycle racing which he will disclose as time wears on.
Along with Shaun, Shane Russell is back full time, Pete Henning almost the same and Courtney Gilfillan our World Champ junior is part time. They along with Deb, our son Chris the Saturday specialist and myself sees us busy and always having something to do.
We have fielded a team in a local cycling series on the Gold Coast called the Rhino Linings Cycle Series ,we have fielded 8 cyclists including Shaun and after race 1 are second on the standings out of 10 teams so look out for the boys around in their new GCT-TDU-GE PLUMBING green and black exclusive Cannibal made cycle gear. The boys cut a fine jib and certainly stand out in the bunch.
On the store front we have been selling a lot of Cervelo TT bikes and obviously the wins in Beijing certainly helps our cause. The new season colours are just about to be released by Cervelo and are up on the site and by the reaction from customers from October onwards we expect to see sales of these bikes reach an all time high.
The BONT shoes we have are a unique look towards the future of cycle shoes. When I received my pair I thought some of the claims about them may have been over the top but no, they are all they are cracked up to be so much so that Beck Keats reckons she gets another 10 watts of power from them alone. The road shoes are the only ones available now but stay tuned as the Tri version is on its way. The guys had some huge success at the games on the track as well as winning a number of medals including gold.
Also speaking of Keats she managed a 5 minute draft penalty at Yeppoon Half and still won by 5 minutes and she also has just wrapped up the 70-3 race at Singapore last weekend, look out come Ironman in Hawaii in October.
The coming season starts in a big way in October with the 1st USM and the 1st Bribie series races kicking of so get online and enter now as the closing date will come oh so quick, also the Cannibal half is in 3 weeks and am looking forward to my season as a commentator so will see you all then.
Until then keep a look out as we have some specials on the website coming up soon.
Take Care.
Noel
